French Gaming Legislation Challenge Could benefit UK Online Bingo

Presently the French Government has in place gaming regulations that restrict non-French gambling companies including UK online bingo halls and bingo operators from having any access to the French market. This is actually in violation of EU free trade agreement.

However the “Frenchies” have seen fit to denounce EU free trade regulations and continue with their State run gambling monopolies even though the European Court of Justice has ruled that all countries operating bingo or gaming business in one country can offer the same services to other EU Countries and any restrictions are only for public interest.

But this EU Court of Justice decision seems to have had no effect to date, on a number of EU countries, France being one of them. However, the European Betting and Gaming Association (EGBA) have challenged the Court of Appeal of Versailles and the outcome of this EGBA challenge is that the French Government now have to justify any current online gaming regulations that restrict non-French companies form operation online bingo or other gaming activities, and this is thought to be going to have a positive effect for UK online bingo operators, who should soon have access to the French, and hopefully other European online bingo markets.
