Bingo Popularity Not Only Limited to the Shores of the UK

Sometimes it is very easy to believe that Bingo is limited to being played only in the UK, perhaps we sometimes have a sort of provincial outlook on the game because it is such a hugely popular leisure activity in the UK.

This is not the case though, we know that bingo is extremely popular internationally, with a huge following throughout the European Union, Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Canada.

But I wonder how many of you know that bingo is HUGE in Taiwan, most of us, when thinking about the nature of the countryside of Taiwan; picture steamy jungles and seedy sweatshops pumping out imitation Levi’s and Nikes. But this is not the case at all, the Taiwanese are bingo mad! Even though the Taiwanese people lead a pretty frenetic lifestyle particularly in the major cities such as Taichung, however in the smaller villages and towns they do seem to have time for leisure pursuits and one of the most popular of them is bingo. Just about every small town and village hosts a bingo hall.

It is also interesting to note that Taiwan is one of the major producers of bingo balls and bingo sets, so besides having large numbers of bingo enthusiasts, they are all genuinely filled with the spirit of bingo!
