Coral Group (Gala Bingo) is in the Pound Seats

Gala Bingo, which is part of the Coral Group has reported that it has seen an increase in trading over the year to September 2007. When taken in context to the embattled position that Rank (Mecca Bingo) seem to have been experiencing, this is very good news.

The fact that the Coral Group has managed to stave off the non smoking ban and double taxation by its efforts in promoting its bookmaking chain, has managed to offset a loss of 10.7% in the earnings of land based Gala Bingo Clubs, bodes well for the Group.

Because of the fact that the Coral group is in a strong position as apposed to its competitors means that they are not expecting any bingo club closures in the near future, but they have warned that bingo clubs operated either independently or by other groups do have a chance of facing closure if the Government does not do something about the double taxation issues being experienced by the bingo industry.

More good news from the Coral Group is that they have obtained a licence to provide bingo clubs to the Hebei Province in China, to open up the first ever bingo club in China. Experts say that the income generated from this alone, could support an entire new market for the Group.
