Bingo Future in US Market for UK Operators Still in the Dark
Again delays have put the future of online bingo operations on hold for UK online bingo and EU operators, it was felt that by Friday 14th December, the world would know what the outcome of the meetings between the US and the World trade Organisation would be.
It was dearly hoped that the WTO would take a strong stand against the US for unilaterally deciding to create its own restraint of trade restrictions whilst the country was still a member country of the organisation. It was hoped that the upshot of the December 14th meetings would allow UK online bingo and EU operators who lost millions of pounds and hundreds of jobs literally overnight in when UIGEA was enacted, would know if they would either be liable for compensation for the losses incurred or if the US would enact a more regulatory law that would allow foreign operators to provide online bingo and gaming services to the US.
The way these negotiations seem to be regressing it appears as though some kind of arbitration is going to have to be called for in order for the necessary decisions to take place. As things stand now the US government is still taking a stance of protectionism regarding its online bingo and gaming industry.
